André co-founded Empyreal in 1997 and for the past 20 plus years occupied the position of director and CEO of the Company. André holds a National Diploma: Civil Engineering and has in excess of 30 years’ post graduate experience in the civil engineering industry, with 11 years in a consulting engineering background and since 1997 as a contractor. André’s vast experience and hands-on approach has made him a well-known and respected player in the industry. In 2019 André started the process of handing over the reins to his successors, becoming the Chairman of the Board, whilst mentoring the new management structure. André continues to play a major role in the daily operations and management of the Company

André has been with Empyreal as a Contracts Manager since 2004, and became a Director of the company during 2011. André holds a National Diploma: Civil Engineering and has in excess of 25 year’s post graduate experience in the civil engineering industry, all of it in construction. André also holds a Diploma in Arbitration and a Certificate of Specialization in Construction Law. André is registered as a Professional Construction Manager with the SACPCMP and also as a Fellow of the Association of Arbitrators (SA). With his vast experience in the construction industry, combined with his strong commercial background, André is responsible for all executive matters of the Company.

Wouter has been with Empyreal as a Contracts Manager since 2012, becoming a Director of the Company in 2014. Wouter holds a National Diploma: Civil Engineering and has in excess of 20 years’ post graduate experience in the civil engineering industry, all of it in construction. Wouter is registered as a Professional Construction Manager with the SACPCMP. With his vast experience in the construction industry and strong focus on operational excellence, Wouter is responsible for all operational matters of the Company.

John joined Empyreal in 2017 as Director and has been representing Empyreal’s majority shareholder since 2013. John holds LL.B and LL.M degrees as well as an Advanced Certificate in Labour Law and Certificates in Business Rescue, Divorce Mediation and Commercial Mediation. John is an Attorney of the High Court of South Africa and with a broad background in BBBEE, procurement, insolvency, property and mediation. John assists the company with legal advice and BBBEE compliance.

Jeanette joined Empyreal as Director in 2018 and represents the black women shareholders of Empyreal. Jeanette holds an LL.B degree and Higher Diploma in Taxation. She is an Attorney of the High Court of South Africa and specializes in all aspects relating to employment and labour relations. Jeanette assists the company in employment and labour related matters.

Welcome completed his National Diploma: Civil Engineering internship with Empyreal Construction in 2008. Following the completion of his internship year, Welcome gained vast experience in various civil engineering disciplines within the public sector, consulting engineers and with other prominent civil engineering contractors – returning to Empyreal in 2017 as an experienced Site Agent. In 2021 Welcome obtained a Post-graduate Diploma in Project Management (NQF level 8). With more than 14 years’ experience in the civil engineering industry, Welcome is a valuable member of the Empyreal Team, and is responsible for the managing of projects for the Company.

Even though Karel is the youngest member of the team, he still has in excess of 11 years’ experience in the civil engineering industry. Having literally worked himself up from being employed as a local labourer to becoming Logistics Manager, his success story is evidence of the Company’s commitment to develop and empower its own employees. Karel is currently studying towards his Diploma in Logistics Management.

The newest addition to the Management Team, Ramah, has in excess of 8 years’ experience in the field of Occupational Health and Safety and Environmental Management. Ramah is registered as an Environmental Management System Auditor with SAATCA, and also as an Occupational Health and Safety Manager with the SACPCMP.

Yolanda has in excess of 15 years’ experience in the civil engineering industry, initially working as a site clerk, working herself up to becoming HR Manager of the Company – her success story further evidence of the Company’s commitment towards its own employees. Yolanda is registered as a member of the SA Board for People Practices, and is currently studying towards her Diploma in HR Management.

André has been with Empyreal as Financial Manager since 2012. André holds a BCompt degree and has in excess of 23 years’ post graduate experience in financial management, with more than 10 years thereof in the construction industry. André is registered as a Professional Accountant with SAIPA.
